Success Spotlight - Olivia Schulz

Please meet our Member Of The Month! Olivia joined our Hers Family 6 months ago and we want to spotlight her success! Let's find out what she has to say about her journey thus far...

What initially inspired you to do the challenge?

To make a change in my life/routine and to challenge myself to see how far I can go.

What were your goals and how did you track your progress?

My goals were/are to lose the stubborn body fat that would uncover the muscle definition underneath. Also, to increase my cardiovascular endurance.

What did your weekly exercise routine and nutrition look like?

I would always make sure I went to classes 4/week, if not, then 3. The career I have is in construction and so there’s a lot of walking and stairs to climb daily. If I was never ever to make a class, I would make sure I would still be able to do some sort of exercise and sweat. Like go for a run, hit the peloton bike or go to the gym. As for nutrition, using the App helped, as I was able to track and see from days before what I’ve eaten. As well as meal planning on Sundays for the upcoming week is a huge help and time saver.

What kept you motivated?

Looking at myself everyday in the mirror also keeps me motivated, as I can see I am slowly progressing to where I want to be with my body. Or even if I see myself declining, it will push me to snap out of it, see where I’m going wrong and turn things around. My boyfriend’s the one who really sparked the idea and gave me that extra little push that I needed to just do it. I thank him for that, as I’m always exited to show up to classes and see all the other strong women who all have a goal they want to achieve just like me :)

How did the challenge impact your life?

It has taught me discipline. My biggest struggle was with food (I have a huge sweet tooth), but by really pushing myself to go to classes and follow the meal plan, you can really kick some bad habits and gain healthier ones.

What would be your advice to new members starting the challenge?

Take it slow at first, especially with classes if they never boxed before. Don't be shy, everyone starts somewhere. And to meal prep, huge help and time saver.

What do you love most about Hers Kickboxing?

The environment at Hers, the greetings once I step in and the energy gives me joy to come in almost everyday. Met a bunch of new people and happy to call them my friends. And Bob, of course can’t forget him, helping me take my anger and frustration out as a day in construction work can get very stressful at times. I also love a good sweat, as I grew up always playing sports. This is now my outlet and each class will definitely give you a good kick in the butt!
