Success Spotlight - Binu George

Please meet our Member Of The Month! Binu joined our Hers Family 7+ years ago and we want to spotlight her success! Let's find out what she has to say about her journey thus far...

What initially inspired you to do the challenge?

I joined Hers Kickboxing back in 2017. At that time, I was looking for a way to improve my fitness and the results I saw were amazing. In fact, my family Doctor even joked that I should keep a 10-year contract because of how much improvement I had made! I’ve participated in many challenges at Hers Kickboxing over the years, including completing one last year. For me, challenges are an opportunity to reset if you’ve lost your way; after all, we’re only human. What’s great about a group challenge is the accountability it brings. When everyone is working towards a similar goal, it’s much easier to stay motivated and on track.

What were your goals and how did you track your progress?

My primary goal was to build consistency in both my workouts and my nutrition. I also wanted to improve my strength and stamina. I tracked my progress by setting small, achievable weekly targets and using a mix of journaling and photos to see physical changes over time.

What did your weekly exercise routine and nutrition look like?

I committed to kickboxing classes a few times a week, complementing them with strength training and cardio on other days. As for nutrition, I followed a balanced meal plan that focused on whole foods, portion control, and moderation. I made sure to include plenty of vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats while allowing room for occasional treats.

What kept you motivated?

Seeing my progress, both physically and mentally, kept me motivated. The supportive atmosphere at Hers Kickboxing and the encouragement from my trainers and fellow members were also huge factors. Plus, I enjoyed the workouts so much that I looked forward to each session!

How did the challenge impact your life?

The challenge helped me develop better habits, not just in terms of fitness, but also in managing stress and improving my overall well-being. I now prioritize self-care, whether that means getting enough sleep or setting aside time for relaxation. It’s been a journey of continuous improvement and I’m still learning every day. Over the years of being on my health journey, I have been able to reverse hypertension and since last year as a family we focus on better eating. By which my mother has been able to reverse diabetes. So overall we have done well.

What would be your advice to new members starting the challenge?

My advice would be to focus on progress, not perfection. It’s all about consistency and showing up for yourself, even on the tough days. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help or lean on others for support—Hers Kickboxing has an amazing community that is always willing to uplift one another. Keep track of your progress. I am a huge fan of the fitness tracker, whether it’s a watch or the chest strap. I focus on competing with myself, so having something to record that progress is a huge motivator for me!!

What do you love most about Hers Kickboxing?

What I love most is the sense of camaraderie and motivation that comes from being surrounded by like-minded people. The workouts are challenging but fun, and the energy in the room is contagious. It’s not just about fitness—it’s about building confidence and strength, both physically and mentally. It's been a few years now since I joined Hers and it has become a part of my life. My picture shows what I looked like when I joined, I was much bigger than I am today. I am just grateful for the opportunities I was given to improve my life overall.
