Please meet our Member Of The Month! Belinda joined our Hers Family last September and we want to spotlight her success! Let's find out what Belinda has to say about her journey thus far...
What initially inspired you to do the challenge?
The size of my outfits went from S to M to L. Everyday, before heading out, I had to try several outfits to finally settle with the one that feels acceptable. Also, my doctor gave me 3-months to lose weight to lower my blood sugar; otherwise, I would be listed as a person with Type 2 Diabetes. Since I hated going to the regular gym, I had to look for something different. That’s when I found Hers Kickboxing, and after Sharon signed me up for a few trial classes, that was it...love it!!
What were your goals and how did you track your progress?
My goals were to lose weight, feel great in my skin, be confident and to show my girls that when there is a will, there is a way! I tracked my progress with the My Accountability Plus App, and with Coach Vanessa's constant support. Uploading pictures of my meals into the App has also immensely made an impact, as it has helped me to stay on track. Thanks to Sharon and ALL the coaches! A special shout-out to Coach Katty who was there for me from Day 1, Coach Christina for her continuous support in back-to-back classes, and Coach Tiana for always asking how I'm doing. All of this helped me reach my goals!
What did your weekly exercise routine and nutrition look like?
I was at the Studio at least 4-6 times a week, but enjoying every single class. I spent 1 hour fast walking and a 1/2 hour walking my pups. At some point, as per Vanessa’s request, I added some extra workouts like some online yoga, cycling or anything that kept me moving. I stayed on track regarding the nutritional part, keeping in mind what Sharon mentioned (90% is nutrition when dieting). I followed the nutritional guide I was provided, making sure to stick to the food that will nourish me whenever I had to eat out.
What kept you motivated?
Seeing the progress, the change in my body, feeling much more energized and getting compliments kept me motivated.
How did the challenge impact your life?
I definitely feel more confident in my everyday life. I wake up happier and feel I can conquer anything that comes my way.
What would be your advice to new members starting the challenge?
Everyone is different! Go at your own pace, but keep going! Ask the coaches for advice...they are ALL great and ready to help. Success is just around the corner!
What do you love most about Hers Kickboxing?
It's a place where I feel at ease, as everyone is nice. Sharon and the coaches bring a good vibe to the studio. There's always something special going on, which makes it exciting! And of course, punching and kicking BOB feels very satisfying.
